About the Author

Most recent accolade is my Microsoft Virtual Technology Specialist Program (VTSP) appointment.  This is a select group chosen from the elite in Microsoft’s partner community, whose focus is to augment Microsoft’s internal Technology Specialist team. Their primary role is to communicate the value of Microsoft Solutions to customers and to provide architectural guidance for Enterprise Integration solutions.

Also granted the prestigious Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award.  This award recognises exceptional technical leaders from around the world who voluntarily share their deep, real-world knowledge about Microsoft technologies with others.

Director of an independent consultancy providing impartial advice, strategy, architecture and delivery services for all aspects of technology including unified communications, collaboration, systems management, virtualization, storage and cloud technologies.  Recognised as a leader in delivering technology solutions that provide real business value and address the most complex of enterprise organisation challenges.

Always ensuring that effective solutions are designed to meet your business requirements and deliver maximum value whilst being fully integrated and embedded into your organisation processes.  Having worked in a variety of industry sectors around the world my experience adds value in understanding how technology can enable success.

Enthusiastic and passionate about technologies that can deliver real value for an enterprise.  Highly experienced professional with a customer focussed ethos and a natural relationship builder.    Proactively contribute in the wider industry and founder of the Northern chapter of a UK unified communications user group.

Specialties

Unified communications including Microsoft Lync Server 2010, Office Communications Server and Exchange, Microsoft and Citrix virtualization, Windows, System Center management, cloud services including BPOS and Office 365, Cisco networking, wireless and unified communications, Forefront security and optimisation (F5 and Riverbed).  Professional skills include project and service management with relevant industry qualifications complementing career experience.

Personally when I’m not investing time in technologies I really enjoy anything outdoors particularly cycling, running and hill walking when my six million dollar man rebuild allows it (Motor accident some years ago means I now have more metal in me than my mountain bike needed for construction!!!).  Taking part in events for cancer charities is important for me ever since my Dad battled and beat this terrible illness.  Some suffering from me helps others who suffer far worse than I can ever imagine.
